Getting Here

Our 2015 Apalatchi Hikes session runs from Sunday to Sunday.

Arrival:

Those driving to the farm should plan to arrive at Old Meadows Farm between 3:00 and 5:00 on the first day of the session. Meals will be provided from dinner Sunday through lunch the following Sunday.

For campers arriving by plane, please book flights to arrive at the Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport (CHO) on Sunday, by late morning or early afternoon. We will meet campers and if necessary, make a lunch stop on the way to Old Meadows Farm. Airport travelers will need to purchase their own lunch. If travel arrangements require arriving before late morning on Sunday, please let us know before booking your flight so we can discuss the additional costs related to transportation and meals.

Transportation from CHO to Old Meadows Farm: $30.00 per camper (+ cost of lunch)

Departure:

Following the completion of their Apalatchi Hike, campers will return to Old Meadows Farm midday. Lunch will be provided. In order to allow time for a relaxed meal, sorting gear, and saying goodbyes, pickup will be early afternoon.

For campers departing by plane, please book flights to depart from the Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport (CHO) after 3:00 on the second Sunday. Should flight times require an earlier departure or a Monday departure, please touch base with us before booking the flight so that we can discuss the additional costs incurred.

Transportation from Old Meadows Farm to CHO: $30.00 per camper

Places to Stay / Things to Do:

Depending on the distance you are driving, you might enjoy staying in a nearby B&B or farm cottage and visiting one of our local wineries, brew pubs, or cider establishments.

The closest B&B to Old Meadows Farm is the Inn at the Crossroads (http://crossroadsinn.com/). You can also check out available cabins, cottages and guest rooms through Virginia Guesthouses (http://www.va-guesthouses.com). Many of their listings are close by.

Wisdom Oak Winery (www.wisdomoakwinery) is within walking distance of our farm, and Pippin Hill Vineyard (www.pippinhillfarm.com) is adjacent to the above-mentioned B&B and only a few miles away. For local cider, we suggest Albemarle Ciderworks (www.albemarleciderworks.com) which is again, only a short drive away.

Let us know if you have a specific interest, and we will gladly share ideas about things to do in our area. It is a beautiful place, and we love sharing it with others.
